The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction is scheduled to begin on a key phase of the I-10 Widening Project involving the low-side (driver-side) curve of Interstate 10 westbound as it crosses over Interstate 110 heading toward the Mississippi River Bridge.
This phase of work will widen the low side of the curve to accommodate future stages of the overall widening project. Construction is anticipated to begin in February 2026 and continue into 2027. Additionally, the Terrace Street exit from I-110 southbound will be closed temporarily.

The acronym “GMP3a” is a reference to the contract through which this work is delivered. It stands for Guaranteed Maximum Price 3a.
Temporary nighttime lane reductions will be necessary during construction. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring local news outlets and subscribing to LA 511 for real-time traffic updates and construction notifications.
When the entire interstate widening project is complete, I-10 will feature four travel lanes in each direction from the I-10 / I-110 interchange to the I-10 / I-12 split.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through construction zones and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
