I understand the Perkins road exit has to be demolished to add the additional eastbound lane, BUT why can’t the exit be redone in the same place afterwards since the area already exists?
Thanks
Response:
The ramps for Perkins Road and Acadian Throughway do not currently meet federal highway standards for the spacing of interstate exits. As the ramps require removal for the modification to the Acadian ramps, new ramps would have to meet the current standard, which is at least a mile between the interchanges. New ramps at Perkins would not meet that standard. (Road and Bridge design should review. I don’t believe they use standards but criteria and is it FHWA or DOTD criteria?)
