Comment:

Keep the elevated spans separate, to provide light and air to the crossing street. Widening the spans on the inside lanes and thereby eliminating the open space between spans gives an undesirable dark tunnel that is not inviting or welcoming. Electric lights are not the solution, they use electricity and burn out or are otherwise not working, and are seldom replaced, and never bright enough to counter the ugly space that is created.


Response:

Widening to the inside minimizes impacts to adjacent properties. Context Senstive Solution designs will be incorporated to provide a more pedestrian/bike friendly under facility environment.
