I am writing to express my concerns over the I-10 widening project. While I understand the need for growth in our transportation infrastructure, I am concerned of the impact this will have on the city’s trees and green infrastructure. DOTD must budget for the replacement of any and all trees removed as a part of the project, and this cannot be only an afterthought. This has taken decades to achieve and needs to be considered carefully in this project.

DOTD will be replacing trees in accordance with their Significant Tree policy and will replant where, possible in coordination with Baton Rouge Green.
